Qatar Foundation for Social Work and Its Centers Celebrate the International Day of Families with a Community Event at Qatar Mall
Qatar Foundation for Social Work, along with its affiliated centers, organized a large-scale community event in collaboration with Qatar Mall to celebrate the International Day of Families, observed annually on May 15. The event took place at the Oasis Stage in Qatar Mall from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and drew significant public attendance.
The event featured a variety of engaging entertainment, educational, and cultural activities aimed at all family members. It emphasized the role of the family as a cornerstone of social development and cohesion, offering diverse experiences that resonated with participants of all ages.
As part of the celebration, the Foundation and its centers showcased their efforts in raising family awareness and empowering different community groups. Qatar Foundation for Social Work organized interactive competitions that blended fun with education, including quizzes on family values, with prizes awarded to both children and adults.
NAMA Center contributed with an educational segment featuring eight questions about the center’s services, delivered by a volunteer from the TAM network, along with valuable incentive prizes. Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities presented an innovative storytelling session for children, combining live narration with sound and lighting effects, creating an immersive and inclusive experience that stimulated both visual and auditory senses.
Wifaq Family Consulting Center hosted a lively interactive competition titled "How well do you know your son or daughter?", where mothers and daughters exchanged questions to see how closely their answers matched. The segment added a touch of fun and warmth to the atmosphere and was met with enthusiastic engagement.
Dreama Orphan Care Center highlighted its mission to empower and integrate orphans into society, followed by a reading of the story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), peace be upon him. Children were invited to the stage for a Q&A session about the story, fostering moral values in an accessible and enjoyable format.
The event concluded with the “Interactive Family Tree” activity, where children and their parents placed handprints on a symbolic tree board representing unity and community support—underscoring the collective role in supporting orphans and promoting their integration.
Ehsan Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care raised awareness about the rights of older persons through its “Thukhur” program, featuring interactive questions on respecting and caring for the elderly, with prizes for participants.
On the entertainment and talent front, Aman Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center held interactive games to spread awareness about the center's role in family and individual protection, including children’s games like “Complete the Number”, and educational gifts for all.
Al Noor Center for the Blind delivered a special musical performance titled “Qatar, the Home of Love”, where visually impaired members showcased their talents in live music and singing, guided by professional instructors—demonstrating the power of inclusion in expressive arts.
Lastly, Behavioral Healthcare Center participated with a children’s play titled “The Young Leader”, aimed at promoting leadership and responsibility values in young audiences through simple, engaging dramatic storytelling.
This event reflected the commitment of Qatar Foundation for Social Work and its centers to raising societal awareness around the importance of families and their pivotal role in national development. It also demonstrated the Foundation’s dedication to activating international observances through local initiatives that foster family cohesion, cultural diversity, and collaboration among stakeholders—contributing to the realization of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly its social pillar, by building an inclusive, just, and cohesive society where all individuals actively participate in sustainable development.
